have you see the AI interface specification working groups?  (Of
interest is that Erwin Coumans is on one of the committees -  Working
Group on World Interfacing).

Perhaps it would be worthwhile to contact them, and possibly see if
there is interest in crystalspace as a possible tool for a reference
implementation.
