This has been discussed already on IRC... yes, we definitely *won't*
link against the system version of ffmpeg, but include our own.

We have had (oh, and still have - more than ever!) exactly the problems 
you're talking about with OpenAL, which suffers from the same problems 
as ffmpeg.
