"I'm really not looking forward
to a bug report stating "Blender crashes on rendering a 30x20 inch
image with 600 DPI"."

intrr to overcome this scenario of Ton's perhaps the resolution of the final
render also displayed in that screen. (although i see limited space for this
display)

"Blender output is *not* comparable to output of normal 2d layout tools, but
instead
compares to the output you get from a (digital) camera."

Blender has the oppertunity to break out of the paradigm that 3d apps are
for tv only. make it the first application to have a DPI setting
unintrusivly added to its interface and workflow.

furthermore features such as True ortho, and edge settings would lend to
Blender being more capable than many digital cameras. i have created many
many page layouts from blender, infact straight from blender to the printers
without another application inbetween. (especially now that i have a laser
colour printer)

why render 50 3d objects that will be droped into a simple layout, when you
can render 8 entire pages? people are already rendering using blender for
page layouts, i know many of them around the community. its a feature they
would all appreciate.

i'm not trying to undermine you Ton by wanting this feature, but blender may
go places you did not expect, please don't fear this.

p.s. Intrr, i was also thinking of a inch's switch for the print options,
however the default should be mm :D

thanks heaps for coding it, i am really looking forward to using it daily.
