[Bf-committers] 3D Transform Gizmo

Can I just say congratulations to Ton and Theeth on the new 3D transform
gizmo, and it's underlying transformation re-write.

This REALLY IS going to make Blender usable by the masses, and is going
to be the biggest usability update to modelling in Blender since the
additional face and edge selection modes ( from way back when it used to
be vertex only selection / manipulation ).

BTW just a thought... if you look at the various transform gizmos, they
are a mix of coloured 3D models ( cones / boxes ) and lines. Would it
be possible to allow users to create their own 3D transform gizmos? Eg
create a 3D model, with different colours ( eg red, green, blue for
manipulation of axis ), and define this as the usable gizmo ( scale,
rotate, translate ). Also maybe even a visual skin model, to go over
the functional model.

If this wasn't possible, it might be interesting to run a quick
competition, to see who could design ( graphically ) the best 3D gizmo (
created directly in Blender of course ;) )
