I see where you're coming from, Chris; it is frustrating, but in their defense...
Development on Blender's popular game engine has been very slow, with really only one busy guy working on it in his spare time. A lot of people want the game engine to be back in business, and this is their way of showing enthusiasm. Real time stuff is hard to program -- especially when it's a program that is supposed to create other programs, so that prevents a lot of people from making effective game engine contributions. I know I wouldn't be comfortable doing it at this point.
I hope the enthusiastic response in naming this thing won't go away after the easy part -- it's one thing to name a project, but it's quite another to follow through and make things happen.
