The problem is the font size, you'll see that the msgothic.ttc will
work with small sizes (8 and 9). Higher sizes will look corrupted
or crash Blender.

There is also the confusion whether the binaries are build with the
precompiled ftgl lib or with the newly added bFTGL source dir.
I'll have a look at it and post my findings here.
