The views expressed below are my views not yours. ;)

on bf-committers were a bit slow sometimes.  In fact I currently have 501
messages from the various blender mailing lists that I need to take a closer
look at.  While I'm not trying to make excuses for everyone, especially during
release time, responses can be slow.  If you want to get things accomplished
try to be a little more positive and helpful.

Your a lot more likely to get something committed if you say hey guys its been
awhile since I posted this...   And I haven't heard anything.  Could someone
take another look at it.

On the other hand if you say  I'm not submitting anything anymore
no one looks at my stuff.  Chances are people will start ignoring you.
