[Bf-committers] Freetype issues

If it's no problem for you, i prefer to have the most recent version of
the
Freetype Library in CVS.
------------
I don't have a prob with a newer version. Just trying to maintain a
known compatible version with ftgl. My tests with 2.1.9 didn't go well
initially because of the otlxxx dependencies in the newer version but I
can see about doing this if it's o.k. I figured that this version is the
smallest and was tested against the ftgl build we have.

Freetype requires no patches, and I'm not really sure why it is added to

CVS.
------------
The activeX controller requires builds of the freetype and solid libs
that define symbols the same way MFC does. In their current .lib
presence they do not. A patch file (.cpp) would fix the issue (of the ax
controller failing), also a few different versions of the freetype2 libs
would work, as well as building freetype from source. The current static
lib committed to /lib/windows causes noisy linking complaints and also
causes the activex controller to fail. Since the solid source is already
in the cvs, is not a problem to build as needed and it would be best to
build freetype as needed too. Hopefully this is not too much of a
disruption, as I did not mean it to be. :(

This could be the case, but since FTGL is also in CVS (as bFTGL), it
gets
compiled against the Freetype version committed to the Blender CVS.

Not really... you're mistaken with FTGL, which indeed is patched for
Blender.
Freetype requires no patches, and I'm not really sure why it is added to

CVS.
