I talked with Martin about this a while ago, and he mentioned needing
a callback to accomplish this as well. I have no problem with
edgeslide being recoded in Transform. Martin, if you want to do this,
I have no "ownership issues" with this code. Take, Hack, Recode, I'm
sure it will be better for it :) And sure a vertslide would be cool as
well.

Glad to help keep blender on the cutting edge (whatever)
