Great idea, except that implementing it may not be possible.  Or it may, 
if you were to use undo. . .hmm. . .

The steps of extrusion:
Extude:
Normal Transfrom

Maybe:
Extrude.
Transform.
[User presses 'i']
Undo.
Extrude
Transform.

Sound good?  I'll have to try it out.
