how do the current drivers (4.10) behave that is a problem?

but the traditional gfx card problems are:
* aa on [forced] messes things up [it doesn't seem to on my 9600, just
makes icons and text in blender blurry]. I belive nvidia cards were
more likely to become unusable than ati ones, but I could be wrong
* slow menus [drawing and erasing]
* slowdown after an extended period of use [I'm not sure exactly the
fewest functions possible to make this visible, and I believe it was
fixed by kester
http://www.blender.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=3789
]. This would be noticable if in about 5 minutes of using blender,
after for example rotating the 3d view, blender would become
unresponsive for about a second. as more things are done in blender,
this delay where blender is unresponsive gets longer and longer.

[and, iirc blender 2.23 and earlier [versions that used glut still?...
I think somebody mentioned that] did not have this problem, and
neither did ati catalyst driver versions about 3.7 or 3.6 and earlier]

oh, what version of windows are you going to test on?
