The hot pink colours, although I also disliked them, have their purpose,
of course... The mere fact that they're "ugly" is used to distinguish the
selected object and/or non-selected vertices from anything else in the scene,
because not many things in reality are pink. So, they have a good reason
for existance :)

It's an interesting idea, I have KDE configured like this as well. But what
bothers me about it is that I first have to move the mouse blindly to the
bottom of the screen, not knowing which x coordinate i should aim at, and
then when the window (taskbar) popped up, re-initiate my visual scan to
see what i actually wanted to click. It's a huge slow-downer probably, but
it does of course free up screen real estate :)
