[Bf-committers] Best place to apply a transform

I'm attempting to finish up the pinBone feature for the NLA. Thanks
to help here from Ton and theeth, I have all the math working great.
Each NLA strip is holding a 4x4 transform matrix that when applied to
the armature will eliminate sliding during NLA animation. Is it
enough to simply apply this matrix to the armature object's obmat? I
don't want to actually alter the rot/loc/size values of the armature,
as I don't want this transform to be key-framable, i.e. I don't want
it's new position to be a "hard" position. It's calculated on-the-fly
and should only count during display and render.
