Strange...

My G4/800 Powerbook has no appreciable difference running the window at 
the original size and then hitting the "maximize" button. This isn't 
"full screen" but is full-sized window.

In fact, I usually run Blender on an external monitor, millions of 
colors, 1280 x 854 with excellent performance.
