The diff file is weird (excluding big blocks of code
and then adding it back). I wanted to give a quick
look at the code before patching, but it's hard to see
what you changed this way. It might also be a good
idea to edit the diff before posting it, especially
removing the makefile edits

Did you do it with:

cvs -z3 diff -u > patch.diff
?
