[Bf-committers] HAM = Hold And Modify

Its a yucky image compression method that was thought up
pre-MPEG by Amiga developers at a time when memory was expensive
and 24-bit frame buffers were expensive (Targa sold a 24-bit 800x600
graphics card for about
5000 dollars).. It probably would only be good for real-time video
playback these days and maybe for integration with the Videotoasters
which I believe are based on Amiga video hardware. But really? how many
people use Amiga blit effects in their work. Old versions of blender are
obtainable in case anyone wants to produce video wipes for Videotoaster
(I'm assuming something about the videotoaster's dependence on Amiga
graphics hardware).

Actually HAMX is pretty good for realtime animation playback, it might
still be good
for a flip-book animation test format. But I personally don't care for
it.
