I'm also disturbed by the time involved. For me, the biggest challenge
is trying to figure out just what files are supposed to go together to
form what. The NaN makefiles are, frankly, write-only text. It's
extremely difficult to read it. The "base" Blender modeller was easy
enough to figure out without reading the NaN build stuff, but the game
engine and standalone player are being real PITAs.

I think one thing that would help is the captured output of a successful
compile run under the NaN system. I could never get this to finish
properly, and the make output at least tells exactly what has happened.

If anyone that has the NaN system working, could I get the output of a
clean recompile redirected to a file ("make > make.log") and sent to me?

I can live with that, but I'm not sure how much time I can dedicate.
I'm involved in other software projects as well. Blender catches my
fancy since it intersects pretty strongly with my Quake 3 game
modification (3D modelling + anim); I have a vested interest in seeing
Blender go places.

Can do.
