Hi,

About verbose checks: For areas where UI_interface.h is available i've
replaced them with UI_translate_{tooltips|iface} and
UI_translate_do_(tooltip|iface). Could be macroses, but it'll be quite
large macroses..

About gettext in Py scripts. I also thought about such kind of changes.
But unfortunately, they can't work well. Benefit of having this _() not
in just only having translated string as it's result, but also in
automated gathering all string needed to be translated. That's what
update_pot.py does. For RNA structures i've wrote operator which goes
through structures and collecting names, descriptions, enum titles and
so. But even this operator isn't really nice -- updating messages
template and merging it into translation files can easily fail when
description changes. In comparsion, if it were _() and N_() in the code
msgmerge will check that messages used to belong to the same file/line
and suggested unchanged translation which is more useful (for example,
for case of recent tooltip changes from Bastien).

Also, i've splitted translation stuff into BLF_translation.
