Creation of 2.44-stable branch.

The purpose of this branch is make important bugfixes to blender
before the 2.5 comes out.

Note: You don't need worry about commit to this branch, only to the
main trunk, ideasman_42 and me are in charge to keep this sync with 
the main trunk.
