[Bf-animsys] About rotation limits beyond +/- 180 degree

Hi;

I found a question on blender.stackexchange about bone rotation limits.

http://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/16055/bones-constraint-limit-x-axis-rotation-more-than-180%C2%B0-doesnt-work

I was curious and looked into that. And i found that indeed setting the
limits > 180 does not work from a user point of view.

http://www.pasteall.org/pic/show.php?id=77446

Here the pink range can not be reached although it is in the defined
limits range. Instead of that the bone flips back to 0 when user tries
to rotate beyond 180 although the limit range would allow that.

The wiki documentation does not mention this behavior:

http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Constraints/Transform/Limit_Rotation

Now my question is:

- is it a bug ? (then imho it should be fixed)
- or is it a limitation ? (then it should be documented)

Actually from a user point of view setting the limits to values > 180
could make a lot of sense. The behavior of the constraint then seems
somewhat "unexpected". So if this is a limitation that can not be
avoided, then what about limiting the input values for the limit ranges
to -/+ 180 ?

What do you think ?

cheers,
Gaia
