I chatted a bit on IRC with Alex during the project but haven't seen or heard from him since tools down a few weeks back. At the conference in Amsterdam, I was lucky enough to have a brief chat with Sergey (the module maintainer) about the future of the VSE. He said that immediately changes would be limited to small features and / or bug fixes. However he would like to know what changes and improvements the SoC project might bring and these I was unable to inform him of. There is definitely a userbase fro this part of blender and a whole lot of potential that remains currently unrealised and I would gladly take part in coordinating and focusing efforts to see massive improvements in the possibilities for this.</div>
