I'm heavily involved in the community, often providing support on most of the common sites (BlenderArtists, StackExchange, IRC, updating and adding to the wiki...). I always keep up with the latest development and make sure I'm familiar with all the (awesome) new features. I'm one of the artist members of the Cycles module, and consider shading and rendering my strongest point.
For the last 4 years I've created over 70 tutorials, both video and text, across multiple sites such as Blender Cookie, Blender Nerd and my blog Adaptive Samples.
I have a fair amount of production experience: in addition to being the lighting/rendering/scripting TD using Maya at BugBox Animation studio (<a href="http://bugbox.co.za/" target="_blank">http://bugbox.co.za/</a>), I've worked on two popular Blender productions, namely En Passant (Best Short Film at Suzanne Awards 2013) and Luke's Escape (currently in production).
I'd really like to push the presence of Blender in my country, but in order to do so I need some kind of reassurance to companies and educational institutes here that I'm well suited to the job. This is where I believe the BFCT will allow me to gain access to companies and institutions to help them use Blender efficiently in their pipeline, or to train professionals who already use another software and wish to switch to Blender (as some of the top colleges here are considering after the Soft Image EOL announcement)
