Pitfalls I encountered so far:<br>

<li>I had to look around where to enable the addon at first. For
those who are curious: Go to File -> Preferences ->
Addons and enable "System: Translate UI Messages". Then, if
you right-click on text, you should get an option "Edit
translation".</li>
<li>To set the path to the PO files correctly, you have to
choose the directory which contains the directory of your
translation. Example: If you store your translation in
~/transl/branches/de/de.po, then the path you have to select
is ~/transl/branches.</li>
<li>When trying to translate the splash screen, I get the error
"Active button not found".</li>

Addon is in trunk since this afternoon.
Please note though that it’s still a work in progress. Usage should be
quite easy under linux, but on windows you’ll have to edit
2.63/scripts/modules/bl_i18n_utils/user_settings.py to add at least this
line:
GETTEXT_MSGFMT_EXECUTABLE = "path/to/msgfmt.exe"
(with the real path to your gettext's msgfmt.exe, of course).
