If possible, to use environment variables for overwrite default value, 
ad example:

export BLENDERHOME=/home/me/.blender
export BLENDERSTARTUP=/home/me/.blender/startup.blend

and add command line option:

   -E   Ignore environment variables like BLENDERHOME and BLENDERSTARTUP
