It's not a priority for artists, agreed, but all 3D is art whether it's
imaginary scenes or real world modeling. Aren't science fiction designers,
Architects, Design Engineers, Scientific modeling engineers and Engineering
drafts persons all artists with a single need.
3D Cad raises it's head over and again and will continue to do so.
There are a number of methods used in CAD that would benefit Blender and vice
versa.
An off shoot of 3D would be highly beneficial but it needs talented people to do
it and the Blender people quite rightly don't have time. Blender developers are
worked to the hilt with artistic requirements which are proven with the movies
and parts thereof done in Blender.
3D Cad is a vital necessity and Blender has wonderful potential to produce a
very workable system.
It would need a group of designers and software engineers to make the solid
modeling of Blender into a Cad package which would eventually need to be Cad Cam
Cad requests won't go away , to give them low priority doesn't reduce the
increasing demand for Blender 3D Cad Solid Modeling.
