A Point At style function could be used to re-align to the view.
This discussion is more to find out how people currently work, ie...
If people want to align objects to the view most of the time, then the
current way of creating view-aligned objects in Blender is correct, and
the additional keypresses to un-align it are sufficient to allow for the
lesser case.
However, if people want axis aligned objects most of the time (
especially if most of the time isn't 60/40, but 90/10 ), then it would
be better UI, workflow and time wise to have Blender give people what
they want, and allow for the 10% of the time case to be achieved ( eg
using a Point At style operation ).
My own feeling from working with Blender users is that view-aligned
objects are required less than 5% of the time ( 1 in 20 times ), if even
that. Hearing from others on how they work would help either quantify
or dispel this notion :)
Regards...
Mal
