Are you talking about the macro tool ? It is really useful in deed, but 
the "redo tool" would be complementary to the macro tool. Macro would be 
for complex recordings and the redo is just a repeat last entry in 
history, Currently to merge at cursor you need to click a lot, not so 
bad when you do it once, but with that you could just hit a key to do it 
once again. But maybe you have already thought about that :)
