[Bf-funboard] Python Access Before Renderface Generation

Seeing as the coders are currently committing things like
displacement mapping and adaptive subdivision at render time, now
could be a good time to ask for this again.

With the current work going on, I propose that a new object script
link type be created in addition to "redraw" and "frame". This would
be a "render" link. This link would call the linked python script
immediately before renderface generation, passing the current mesh to
the script. The script does it's hokey-pokey, and returns a modified
mesh, which is then passed on for renderface generation. So many
scripts could use such a thing (fiber, beast, advanced wave
generators, etc.)

You could run the scripts directly to determine settings, then set
them to activate at rendertime, freeing you from having to manage the
high-poly geometry during modelling and scene management.

Is there a coder currently working on these renderface features that
would be willing to put such a powerful tool in place?
