Of course you can, but is this work around realy necessry? And could you
tell me how long will be older versions available? And anyway is this
possibility written somewhere (documentation or so)? If not what would
the people that are not bound so tight to Blender's developement do?
They probably don't know it. Maybe they saved their user settings and
don't see the splash screen anymore, even if the would like to see it.
You probably *can't* say that everybody knows it.
PS: Do you know (or can you imagine) how long it sometimes takes to
start blender on my 500 MHz Celeron when running under Win2k? This OS is
*realy slow*.
