> The current Blender layout has confused you to belive, that you are just
assiging vertices to a group, when you have actually been weighting vertices
in groups, which proves that the current setup is confusing.
> I case you have misunderstood: Assign assigns the specified weight value
to the selected vertices. If you have the weight level at 0.5 and click
Assign, the selected vertices will be weighted at 0.5 in the selected
vertice group.

Is there any way of recalling what the weight of a group was? Also, I can
assign the weight 0 to a group... it stops the armature affecting the
vertices but I can still select that group in edit mode.

Actually you can give a vertex group a weighting of 0 and when you select
the vertex group, the selected vertices seem to behave normally in editmode
(when you're moving them around, etc).

Otherwise I strongly suggest the we move them to the perticles panel.

Yeah, average the button background and text colour with the background
colour... so if the button's red component is 100 and the background red
component is 130, the average would be (100+130)/2 = 115. Or it could be a
weighted average where it favours either the background or the foreground
more. The method would be the same for the green and blue colour components.

I like the last one... it is quite spiffy... maybe a bit over the top... the
dividing line is too dark and thick.
