Yes, I have had exactly the same problem in the past, and everyone
i tried to communicate it to just was like "Uhhhh? I never had
that problem!" (like with most problems I have :)

In the meantime, i found that it's enough to just hit SHIFT-S-1
to make Blender remove the "overshoot" by adjusting the handles.

But I agree that a mode where it _always_ inserts handles that
way should be implemented, and I've thought of doing that in the
past :)
