Hi,
It took me a long time to figure out what those little boxes on the side of
the tree mean... I eventually saw that they have little numbers in them. It
seems that they are used to state which part is which layer... the 2 is next
to the blue lock, and the 3 is next to the red line, etc - and that
corresponds to the layer icons at the bottom of the pic.
But I think the layer icons at the bottom should correspond with the layer
manager like this: layer 1 is "working layer", layer 2 is "layer 2", and
layer 3 is "layer 3". Currently layer 1 is "working layer", layer 2 is part
of "working layer" (Cone.001), layer 3 is part of "Layer 2" (Monkey.001) and
layer 4 is "layer 3". (I'm comparing the numbers in the top right to the
layer icons at the bottom)
The pop-up menu you have there seems like visible, lock, and no render are
mutually exclusive (only one can be selected) but I thought you can choose
any number (0, 1, 2 or 3 of those options) so it should have ticks, not a
circle. I think if no lattices, armatures, etc, exist then those groups
shouldn't appear. Unless... you could use those category names to go to a
pop-up menu and go to "new lattice", etc. I think the mostly filled grey
icon you have in layer 1 isn't clear enough... it could be smaller (1 or 2
pixels smaller on each side) and/or have white in the gaps or something.
(Actually I think that icon should be replaced altogether, see my last post)
