You are absolutely right: I understand that 'Blender Education' has a wide<br>
topic range. I first wanted to go for BlenderCoach, but someone took that<br>
name half a month before I tried to get it. However, I don't regret it a bit<br>
because by now my plans have grown and I intend to use the range of what<br>
Blender Education can be. It will just take time to implement.<br>
<br>
Let me clarify first the current version of the website: Now we focus on<br>
private-tutoring, mentoring, coaching and support. This could be an<br>
intensive series of lessons with a professional coach (e.g. when you hire<br>
someone from the Blender Network) or it could be a few individuals that you<br>
can ask questions while going through your project (e.g. when you know all<br>
components but are not clear on how to combine everything into a nice<br>
render). The website supports both coaches asking money and coaches working<br>
for free or accepting a voluntary donation.<br>

earlier this weekend which explain more about the website<br>

post articles related to Blender and education and keep you updated about<br>
the development of the website.<br>

About the big picture of the website: Although I understand that you are<br>
interested, I am not going to disclose plans of which I am not yet sure that<br>
I can technically realize them. But I will say this: we hope and aim to make<br>
Blender Education the hub of Education about blender on the web. CGCookie,<br>
although a wonderful website, is about a handfull of people selling their<br>
tutorials. Blender Education will become for Education what the new Market<br>
Place, that CGCookie is launching, will be for add-ons and objects. Blender<br>
Education will be open for everyone to put their educational services and<br>
materials, either paid or for free. Private-tutoring is only our first step<br>
and we intend to implement a lot more features. Some of these are completely<br>
free to use (e.g. the next thing we want to implement once the current part<br>
is up and running, is a giant searchable list of tutorials. A list across<br>
all websites, all topics and all languages, with a review and rating<br>
system). This on its own would be worth a website, but for us it is only a<br>
small part of what we want to do. For other, non-free, parts we will always<br>
try to think of a low-budget version connected to the high-budget version.<br>
Interaction is key and we want to give the community the freedom to decide<br>
its price (all the way to 0, but we do have a maximum of 1 000 000 euro<br>
;) ).<br>

As you can see, I have big plans for this website and I am very ambitious<br>
about it. But I can't do it without any support, so if you are interested,<br>
spread the news, join the beta or follow us on social media to stay updated.<br>

I wanted to tell you all about a new website that I have launched recently<br>
and that could be very interesting to you all. I am talking about<br>
<a href="http://www.blendereducation.com" target="_blank">www.blendereducation.com</a>, a website targeted on private tutoring, mentoring,<br>
support and coaching. Special about this website is that there is not a team<br>
behind it, but rather that it is a platform for everyone to use. So anyone<br>
can become a student and anyone can become a coach. The website offers both<br>
parties a place to present themselves, offers the tools necessary such as<br>
fora, chat rooms, video chat, ? and takes care of the administration and<br>
payments.<br>

Currently the website is finished, but we have decided to start slowly with<br>
a limited number of users. Anyone can apply for this ?beta? phase and use<br>
the website for free during this time (only the website will be for free,<br>
not the coaches). For more information and details, visit the website and<br>
the about section.<br>

Besides informing you all, I would also like to ask 2 questions:<br>
<br>
1)If there is anyone interested in joining the beta either as a student or<br>
as a coach, feel free to send me an email. You can use the contact page on<br>
the website for this. If anyone has students interested in learning Blender,<br>
then perhaps you can inform them of this website and they could participate<br>
in the beta during their summer break. (Please notice that they should be of<br>
legal age or ask permission from their parents before hiring coaches.)<br>

2)Secondly, I wanted to ask for a little help in promoting the website. As<br>
you can imagine, a website like this can only work if it has sufficient<br>
support. I tried to make it as easy as possible to do this: just go to our<br>
facebook, twitter or google+ page and you will find a message that you can<br>
share and retweet or copy to other social media, mailing lists or fora. The<br>
more people spread the news, the more people will find the website and the<br>
more interesting it will become, so ask others to do the same.<br>

Hello Nick,<br>

are you going to make just money using Blender Education, or, is this<br>
possible to put a random free content on your site? What business model do<br>
you allow? What about localized version for national services?<br>

The domain says much (and really this name should be taken with full<br>
responsibility for the whole Education Related To Blender), and I wonder if<br>
the Blender Education should have something to do with paid services. The<br>
question is what BF is thinking about this also :)<br>

As far as I understand, this site is for making money by tutors who put<br>
their courses there; and they (somehow) have to be paid by people who like<br>
to attend. Please correct me if I'm wrong. If this is the model then I<br>
don't like the idea. CGCOOKIE is then more open, allowing free content.<br>
But, as I said, I can misunderstand something... Please tell us a bit more<br>
:)<br>
