you might want to look at Krita also,

http://www.koffice.org/krita/

it can handle high depth images which depending on what you are doing
might be important.


Offtopic but, I just had an interesting thought - firefox ran a full
page ad in the NYT, it might be interesting to do something similar
for well known papers in India and other countries of interest.

Or are there art magazines in India that a review could be done for or
a training article or possibly a bundled CD with the manual?  I'm
thinking that the next major release would be the perfect oportunity
to do so.
