Hello Ethos,
I hope you got an answer to your question via other channels in the meantime. Your suggestion regarding the modelling intro sounds ok, feel free to make a concrete proposal at https://developer.blender.org/diffusion/BM/ (check out the Readme for more info).

Thank you!
Francesco

The Introduction section of the Modeling topic should include basic information about the Modes that are currently available for modeling.

There are three modes that are primarily used for modeling: Object, Edit, and Sculpt.

The Weight Paint Mode may be considered a modeling mode, but I am not yet familiar enough with the vocabulary that is used in the community of CG artists to know if they consider physics and rigging a part of modeling, or a separate part of Blender related to motion or animation.

Because I do not yet know the three “paint modes”, I would not be a good candidate to write this introduction at this time for fear of writing half the story. But the introduction should include all six modes for clarity even if some of the modes are explained more fully in another section related to a topic such as Texturing, Physics, or Animation.

I would write this new paragraph of the Modeling Introduction at a later time when I become more familiar with the three Paint Modes. Or, I could write this part of the Modeling Introduction now based on my current understanding and leave it for others to expand or modify it.

As a relative new reader of the documentation I looked for a hierarchy in the Modeling Introduction and do not see it, or do not see it clearly because I am new. Mentioning the Modeling Modes in the Modeling Introduction may help to define the hierarchy for new readers like myself.

Feedback welcome.

Ethos Erlanger
