Hello,
If everyone is willing, I will start work on programming a wiki bot
to set up a dictionary for BlenderWiki.
The bot process will probably be something like this:
1. [one-time] Scan to get all important words from all pages
(excluding articles, conjuctions, etc.)
2. [one-time] Assemble the list of words into a coherent order on a
dictionary page (or pages).
3. [one-time, and on-going] BlenderWiki users add definitions to the
temrs listed, and add or delete terms as needed.
4. [one-time] BlenderWiki users recommend dictionary terms to look for
in the text, and dictionary terms to NOT look for in the text. For
example, look for "IK-chain" since it is a specialized term, but do not
look for "render" since it might be used too broadly.
5. [one-time, after a certain length of time for creation of the
dictionary] Scan BlenderWiki, replacing all instances of the dictionary
terms with links to the dictionary definition.
6. [on-going] BlenderWiki users make sure that the edits to the pages
are correct, and recommending changes as needed.
7. [automatic, on-going] Repeat steps 5-6 on a monthly (weekly?
yearly?) basis.
Let me know if there is a way to do this already (for instance, a
wiki bot that already does something very close to that), or if there
are some corrections that need to be made to the process.
Just so you know, I will probably not finish writing this and getting
approval to run the bot until July (or maybe August), since I have a
vacation coming up in May.
later,
Neal Delfeld.
