I agree for the essential : this is a very well thought out plan and I am
not tempted to 'refine' on it. In French, we have a saying : "If the Chinese
don't have a saying for it, don't touch it !". Just kidding : "Le mieux est
l'ennemi du bien" (Aiming for the best every time may just destroy
everything that's already good). I'm sure that we'll have plenty of
occasions to disagree : agreed ? For example, putting lighting before
material may work well for stills but not as well for animation. I'm also
expectative, let's say, as to how leaving the liberty to the author will
turn out.

Anyway, let's see what the others have to say about that.
