I recall we had looked at adding captcha, but I think delayed it to
wait on a full upgrade (maybe the site upgrade of gforge?) when we
would get it 'for free'.

The gforge upgrade was discussed at this weeks meeting and might.  I'd
be amenable to closing it to edits till after the upgrade.  Perhaps
announce on the forums that those who would be interested in editing
should register in the next day or so, after which it will become
harder to register for awhile?
