good idea.

What also comes in useful is to add
export CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous:@cvs.blender.org:/cvsroot/docboard
to .bashrc and
diff -u -w
to .cvsrc, then you can call all the commands (checkout, update, diff, ...)
with only minimal parameters.
