I understand what you mean. Yet one has to take responsibility for his/her words. I really hope I'm wrong here, I don't believe they are working on it. Amd has been years promising stuff and then being silent and not delivering, just look at the "a good news for amd..." thread at blenderartists. That is also bitter and disrespectful to their customers. I think you are right by saying that I should ask for a progress report first, but it has been asked already in this same thread, with no response. That is also rude.

2015-01-14 15:09 GMT-03:00 Marc Dion <marcdion1974@gmail.com>:

David Fenner: Maybe it would be help to simply ask the guys from AMD to make a progress report. It's only been a couple months, this is a big job and nobody ever said they'd be on this as full-time work. Bitter comments only serve to alienate people. It's demotivating and if they report to their supervisors that people are heckling them and generally being rude I think their response will be to pull the plug entirely. Nobody wants to work in that kind of environment. Try to be patient and if you would like a response from them then please just ask for one.

On Wed, Jan 14, 2015 at 3:32 AM, David Fenner <d4vidfenner@gmail.com> wrote:

hey, at least you have an excuse, good or bad.
Unfortunately I have been busy, sick, busy, and sick again, so no much
progress, still in phase 1.
Meanwhile the OpenCL 2.0 driver came out, but cycles still does not
work on my system.
I got better yesterday, so phase 1 will be done at the end of this week.
