<div>Hi,</div><div>Thanks for your consideration.</div><div><br></div><div>So after doing the first step...the remaining issue would be "optimizing further for the graphics card"...</div><div>the question from here would be,</div>
<div>what kinda optimizations?</div><div>what will happen if the developers remove these optimizations?(make it generic OR i.e. splitting the optimization side of the kernel up from the first step::::::::::::making it an option in blenders preferences )</div>
What if this is tried and tested ?<div>Or (alternatively)...</div><div>Chunk the kernel into smaller parts i.e. main(all the shaders/texture stuff)...nodes(when people start working on nodes, this part of the kernel is compiled)...etc (if i remember correctly you did say that you wanted cycles to be modular)<br>

<br>
Thanks for the links, but I fear these won't help us much. There's two<br>
steps in the kernel compilation, first to intermediate code for the<br>
graphics card vendor, and then optimized further for the specific<br>
graphics card. These compilers don't do the last of those two steps as<br>
far as I know, that would still be done by the graphics card driver,<br>
which means we'd still run into the same issues most likely.<br>
