[Bf-committers] Blender Developers Meeting Minutes - June 9th 2016

Hey all, here are the meeting minutes from todays (quiet) developer meeting in #blendercoders on IRC.


Current Projects:

- Benoit reports the BGE Decklink branch is ready for merging. Details here: https://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Source/GameEngine/Decklink branch here: https://developer.blender.org/D1618

- Campbell has committed undo memory optimizations for Edit Mesh, giving 5-15x less memory use: https://developer.blender.org/rB91bfdacde262c4df18ade2e5266e5c969bb5f3af

- Additionally optimization of global-undo for large scenes is committed: https://developer.blender.org/rB441a440cbbb700511d6d1ec01e2f149355adcc02

- Bastien has begun implementing the initial API for custom normals in Bmesh. Branch is here:  https://developer.blender.org/diffusion/B/browse/custom-normals-bmesh/

- Julian is preparing the Custom Manipulators branch for review, could be ready in a few days.

- Kevin reports he may have the Alembic branch ready for review in a few days, there's just a few known bugs left: https://developer.blender.org/T48075

Other Projects:

- Mike Erwin is preparing a technical design doc for the 2.8 Viewport, it should be ready in a few days.

- Bastien has the id-remap branch ready for review: https://developer.blender.org/D2027

- For Windows, experimental builds, compiled with MSVC 2015 are now available for testing: https://builder.blender.org/download/

- Suggestions for getting a build of the 2.8 branch on Buildbot were made.

GSOC:

- Not many students present for meeting.

- Sebastián Barschkis is working on the liquid cache, aiming to get it inline with the smoke ptcache.

- Lukas Stockner is progressing nicely on the Cycles denoising. He should have the first usable build by next week.

- Julian Eisel is making good progress on the Layer Manager; spent two days at the Blender Institute for a design sprint, which resulted in re-writing the design doc.
