Especially for beginners, but even from an "advanced" user perspective.

Not all settings have a 0 or 1 value, there are certain options that have a
very specific value by default**, and there are reasons for that.

After playing around with the sliders sometimes you forget what the default
was, and want to go back to a "reasonable" value. I usually just open a new
Blender and check there, but having a "Reset to Default" setting is more
convenient.

**many options come to mind, for example how to remember that the default
amount of minimum bounces on cycles is 3? Or that the default density for
smoke domain's raising speed is -0.0010? This slider goes from -5.0 to 5.0.
Same for simulation timestep for particles physics, default is 0.040, but
this slider goes from 0.010 to 10.000.

Anyway these are just a few, but these examples are all over Blender.

+1 on having a default value.
