I just checked scons still work correctly.

So it is one of 2 cases :

- you have changed the paths to ftgl and freetype in configs.opt for an 
incorrect value
- you have recently updated to 10.3.9 and not remade the symbolic link 
from darwin-7.9.0-powerpc to darwin-6.1-powerpc

the latter is easy to check. in finder, the folder 
lib/darwin-7.9.0-powerpc must have a small curved arrow showing it is a 
link
